Yes, and no.

The intake would fit, but some of the bolt holes won't align. The rear coolant crossover would be open to atmosphere, and you'd have to machine a hole for the distributor, since the LT1/4 and L99 engines have the distributor on the crankshaft end near the timing cover. There would also be no exhaust passages for the EGR.

Other than that. the intake would fit between the heads perfectly.

If you want an aftermarket LT1-style intake for your L98 or other older SBC, look at the Accel Mini-Ram systems. They are in essence a clone of the LT1 system.

I've heard it described as "Queen Elizabeth with a bear-bottom", but I still don't know which way is up.

And if the Union Jack is upside-down, the beefeater who is holding it is standing on his head and smiling (the ONLY time they appear to be smiling). Or would that be a Mountie in your case?. At least they smile some times.

And what's with those new quarters? Some of them have TWO heads on them.

Getting back to the topic of this post, TPIS makes the MiniRam, not Accel, who makes the SuperRam.

Yes the LT1 will fit on a small block chevy, but it wont bolt up or be usuable without extensive modification.

Thanks for the correction. I guess I got my "Rams" confused...

You're right about the LT1 intake, but I've heard of people cutting a distributor hole in them to accomodate a "regular" distributor. I've never personally seen one, though.

Nothing like dredging up a 14 year old thread. But, I'll play along.

By "the other way around", I assume you mean to put a TPI intake on an LT1.

Read this, LT1 intake conversion , and do the opposite.
  1. Distributor - either keep the LT1 oil pump stub and plug the intake, or drop in a standard distributor.
  2. Bolt pattern - mill and drill to fit. The 4 corner bolt holes are purported to be correct. The 4 middle, and other 4 "next to the corner" bolt holes need modification.
  3. Coolant - I am guessing you don't have to do anything, because the LT1 intake does not touch the coolant.
  4. Fuel lines - stock TPI would probably work.
So, it really comes down to adapting the intake-to-head bolt pattern.

Or you can find an Accel LT1-Super Ram base... intake bolt pattern
