LT1 starters?

Will these things bolt right up to our cars? Is there any certain year or type to get? I've replaced 2 remanufactored starters in a month. They are a huge PITA to slip into place for me because my (non-stock) y-pipe gets in the way. I always have to file down the "nose" for it to fit. I've read that the LT1 starters are smaller and more powerful than the stock ones and I'm despirate to get my car running right.

hey 88' that's exactly the same question i was gonna post. i also wanted to know if a LT1 starter would work on our L98's. besides being smaller, more torque, lighter i hate the way current starter sound's compared to the way the one in my 94' formula sounds. nice and quiet.

i have a gm preformance mini started on my car if i recall correctly it'll fit ls1, lt1, and all other SBCs. the starter doesn't bolt to the block a mounting plate does and you can locate the starter at differant places on the plate to make it fit your application.

I found something out about starters recently. They are very interchangeable. My cavalier's starter looks like the same one on my friends '91 Camaro 305. A guy at work told me that his 2.5 liter S10's starter would bolt to a small block. I don't know if they all have the same internal's I kinda doubt it, but I think a lot of the same year staters share cases.
