Differences between RTV?
What are the differences between the different kinds of RTV and their proper applications? I always use the blue kind, but what about black, clear, and orange?

Orange is refered to as red (no idea why) It's used as high temp. It won't dry out and crack in high temp areas.
The other three have their own properties. Some will stay soft and plyable. Others are sensor safe for use in emision controlled cars.
The majority of the time I use "red" for anything I do that needs some silicone except if I need a sensor safe silicon.

The best stuff for "all around use" is the GM Silicone Sealant (RTV). Its the best stuff, and has a metallic look to it to blend in, unlike the bright colors that tend to look sloppy.
I also tend to see less leaks w/ the GM sealant as compared to the "others".

only 2 i use and the most costly are ultracopper and ultragrey. the ultracopper is for hig temps and the ultragrey is for everything else. as for the differances i don't know but i know what i like and what works for me.
