What can i reuse from my heads?
i have a new set of bare dart iron eagle platinums and then i have my old 882's that will be coming off the motor. the 882's have 2.02/1.60 valves installed and i have new springs for the new cam thats going in. i was just wondering if i could reuse the retainers, locks and seals from the 882's and put them on the iron eagles?
The valve locks should be designed for the valves that are being installed and the retainers, since groove positions can vary and retainers have different lock angles.
If the retainers are stock, they probably include rotators on the exhaust valves. Throw them away. Get new retainers and locks.
As for reusing stem seals, unless they only have a few hours on them, I wouldn't. For the cost of a new set of teflon seals, it's hardly worth the risk.
