Beefing up a LO3?? Mod Question
Beefing up a LO3?? Mod Question
Ok this might seem like alot to do all at once but...can I put a prom chip in my 92 Camaro RS? Would you guys recommend a hypertech or jet? Also I am going to get free flow cat converter and flows? And the other question I have a 305 TBI V-8 Is there anyway I can convert that to a 305 TPI with out a lot of hassle? How hard or easy would it be and cost wise?
LS,
Consider yourself lucky to have the L03 instead of the LG4. At least you have flat pistons and decent valves.
The fuel system is not your problem. The TPI may provide a little better low end torque (O.K., quite a little better) but the TBI will run the engine with more power on the higher RPM end of the scale. Your biggest impediments to power are teh exhaust, cam profile, and head design. You can do a lot with just a cam kit and some home porting of the heads. Of course, the different cam will require a different PROM to run correctly, but the HyperTech isn't the answer. It is only designed to provide a richer mixture and better spark advance at the mid- and upper-end of the throttle range. A custom would be your best bet.
