locking lug nuts
Hey do you guys know if all factory locking lug nuts got the same key? I wouldn't think so but I have the original bag for them and there is a part number on it. I some how lost my key and i don't want to damage the lugs or wheels.
thanks

There was a post a week or so ago about how to get a duplicate, I meant to save the post, but forgot...think it was by "ponykiller"?
I'll search and see if I can dig it up...I need to save the info anyway.

If you've got insurance, get rid of the locking lugs and let the ins co pay for new wheels! I had an oil change one day and the mechanic rotated tires as well, keeping the key. 2 weeks later, when I had a flat, the shop had closed. Took me 3 days to find a key and 3 hours driving to get it, cost me $40 for key - all the while my ride sat on the side of the road with a flat. Never again will I do locking lugs!

snap on and mac tools make a universal tool that removes them. It's a smooth wall socket that tapers smaller as it gets to the 1/2 drive. I don't know how well it would work with a breaker bar, I used an impact. You hammer the hell out of it onto the wheel lock and slowly impact it off
then there's a steel punch rod that you use to drive the wheel lock out.

I dunno, 17 bucks and leave'en it in the console seems like the thing to do for me.
Naw, rather spend the dollars for the Sanppy/Mac unit and beat the heck out of my lugs...no wait, think I'd rather not put locking lnut on at all, let someone tak'em and pay my insurance deductable.
Damn, I must be getting old and practical these days....

just offering another option. I have a nice set of ARE's on mine with no locks. No one else around here has a set like that so if they come up missing and another set appears suddenly I have my 12 gauge

Well the car had them on originally, so i'd like to keep them. I ordered a key from amcor. This is way easier and cheaper than i thought it would be.
