Can I re-use these?
Can I re-use these?
I was tearing down my old 305, and I was wondering if these parts can be re-used:
This head seems to have a hole in it... that should be ok right?
This rod bearing seems to be missing the tab that holds it in place... that's no big deal I assume

The bearing will be OK as long as you re-use the egg-shaped rod that it came from...
Just fill the hole in the head with RTV.
Any other questions..

I never had any bad bearings but I punched a hole bigger than that in a 781 big block head. I should scan the pic of the piston some day. The head of an intake valve is sticking straight up out of the top of the piston.

I have a coffee can full of piston skirts and a few bearings that you could shave with. I learned to shut it down when it starts to knock from that episode.
