If your 2.8 is like my 5.7 (yo, I'm twice the block you are) the EGR is under the plenum, bolted to the intake.

ok i know i have to take off the plenum but do i take all the top bolts off and take off the top half or shoot for the lower bolts and try to take off the entire plenum to get to the egr? i started taking off the top bolts and realized that that would only get the top half of the plenum off (and if i do that i probably need a new gasket right?) thanks guys

It is on the passenger side exhaust manifold, next to the plenum.

The hose should not have vacuum at idle. The egr is only supposed to open when the engine is hot and the tps voltage is higher than idle. Take the egr off and see if it is stuck open, usually carbon from the exhaust. you could try cleaning it or just replace it. Or do what I did, make a block off plate for the tube that goes to the plenum and not worry about the egr anymore. No emissions testing where I'm at, just have to pass a visual inspection.

What exactly is the problem you are experiencing?

ill post what i wrote from another thread

ok i've been tackling this problem for a straight week now, problem arose on the road when all of the sudden i lost power, i pulled over still running and ever since then if i give alittle bit past idle to 1/4 throttle it just bogs horribly and POPs, if i give over 1/2 throttle to full it doesnt do this tho, i changed the spark plug wires to no avail, i also noticed my guages fuse blew when i checked all the fuses so i replaced today and it popped again in about 1 minute! it this some kind of wierd short? i already checked all grounds cleaned them, i'm at a loss please if anyone has any idea just lend me some advice i would appreciate it so much

thanks for the help

Double check all the vacuum lines too.

This doesn't sound/seem like an EGR issue. Also, what fuse blew/keeps blowing? Is it marked "gauge/panel" or another?
