Those with SLP headers please answer this vexxing problem.

I have SLP 1 3/4" headers and didnt buy the install kit. I cant seem to tighten the bolts with a socket because the lip of the headers is too darn close to the bolt. With a wrench I half to go 1 1/4" turn flip the wrench and go 1/4" over and over taking 2 hours for some of the rear bolts. Locking header bolts do not fit (I know I bought a set) so what did you do?

Ok let's see how I can help here. I used the Stage 8 locking bolts on my SLP's on my new motor. What you have to do is grind down the two locking pieces for each bolt. Also the Stage 8's have holes in them for allen wrenches which made it a lot easier. When I had normal bolts and had trouble tightening them I bought a cheap open end wrench and ground down the boxed ends wall as thin as I needed to get the clearance.

I have the same problem.

I bought locking bolts, but they could not be used for every bolts (length problem I believe). The ones that arent locking keep untorquing themselves and need to be tightened.

I tried to tighten the one on the passenger side yesterday with a socket, but the socket would not go on it becuase the "lip of the header" is right on top of the bolt.

I don't think I'm having a problem with that bolt leaking though. I seem to be having leaking problems from the bolts on the "Y-pipe" underneath the car just before the cats.

I was able to tighten one side of the Y-pipe but the other side was hard as hell to get to from underneath a partially jacked car. Guess I'll have to try again or take it somewhere that has a lift - they can do it in 2 seconds.

I used the slp bolts, I found a spare boxed end wrench, grinded the head down a little. Works like a champ!
