I have a set of B2L heads that will work great on your 305. They're cheap and they include just about everything you would need to swap them in. Did you get that exhaust manifold stud out yet?

Hi there,
excuse my ignorance, but what are B2L heads..?
And no, I haven't gotten it out yet. The heads are still in the car - but Im exploring the possibilities of another set of heads right now. I haven't decided what to do yet as Im trying to pull together all the info on the cost of everything.

I found the ebay auction above a little bit TOO late so there was not enough time to get the needed info straight - so Im still looking. Any info about suitable heads are very much appreciated!

Well L98 is the code for the 350 ENGINE and B2L is the code for the performance package that includes the 350. Sometimes when the car has a 350 you will see B2L/L98 for the RPO code.

I am assuming that he means B2L/L98 f-body (iron) heads, but i could be wrong.

I fail to see how 64cc chamber L98 heads would work "great" on a 305 designed for 58cc chambers. Perhaps with shaving, but it's still not a match made in heaven.

Could always get the vette L98 heads 58cc, and that would keep compression the same.

Honda engines ROCK, I have one on my lawn mower but I still have to push it.

See my post about L-98 vs 882 cylinder heads. I was considering getting the L-98 ones to replace my 882's but i was informed that my 882 heads actually flow a lot better than i thought. The nice thing about 882 heads is that they came an a lot of small blocks through the 70's, and at least around here, they're easy to find in junkyards. Way cheaper than L-98 heads too.

You cant use anything with 2.02/1.60 valves...I think they dont clear the bore on a 305. Im not sure what valves come on L98 heads, but after the work needed to keep your compression is done, they would probably cost more than heads designed for a 305. Ive heard good things from people who have used the vette heads, but I hear they require some modifications to fit.
Hope that helps some
peace

I see that its too late now, but besides having killed your compression, the valves are too big.
