Hey guys, first time here. I bought my camaro a few months ago, and its had a few problems. It used to run then die, but it stopped and only does it on rare occasions. But now when im driving the tach will bounce or drop to zero and the engine will idle even when i have pressure on the pedal. then it will surge and then go to zero again, then it will drive normally. it started a few weeks ago but it really got bad tonight on my way home, not only did it do what i just descibed, but it also started backfiring. Im still paying for the car and need it to get back and forth to work, so if you guys can help me figure out whats wrong, i would greatly appriciate it. Also my oil gauge doesnt work and the temp guage is erradic, so i cant tell if its a problem with that.

check some sensors, like your tps sensor, also check your timing.
