My stupid alternator broke, literally!

I can’t effin believe it! The stupid thing cracked in between the mounts and broke off taking a piece of the alternator/PS pump bracket along with it!

Good thing I was only on the entrance ramp to the highway.

Just think, it’s been almost a year since I’ve seen my mechanic.

I think I’m going to put XX amount of days since last towed on the rear window.

I had a generator break on the '57 a couple of decades ago. Does that count?

Want to see a broken mechanical fuel pump housing?

I've had a CS-144 (high output, bigger diameter case) alternator break off (actually, the extension bracket that bolts in place of a CS-130 broke). Now I always run the alternator support brace that goes to the back..

I had a 105 from autozone that the part of the casing that holds one of the bolts, along with about half of the outer casing just ripped from the rest of the alternator.

I just put it in the box the other direction and used it as a core charge.

CHA-CHING

how the hell does an alternator casing BREAK? only thing I can think of is that it was 'freezing' up and applying a strong force to the mounting area on the casing, causing it to break off.
