Power door lock problem?

Ok i have an 89 Firebird Formula, and when i hit the button to lock the doors, the drivers side door doesn't lock. You can see that the little orange lock indicator on the side panel of the door is not going in all the way, thus i guess making it not lock. Do you guys have any idea what it could be, and would it be an easy fix?
Thanks a lot, i appreciate it!

what i did on mine was, shoot wd-40 in the door latch and then sit there and slide it back and forth untill it frees up. there is just gunk in there.

The WD-40 should do the job.

My car has the same problem, I found a weird not fix but run-around. If only the drivers door is unlocked, it will have trouble locking. If you unlock both doors, it'll lock without a problem...

Try pressing the button down and holding it for a second (just don't burn up the relay, don't know if you can or not,) and see if the motor can retract the door lock any more.

This problem is common (years of grease and dust gum the works). Your best bet is to remove the door panel and thoroughly spray the mechanisms with WD-40 to free them up, then use a white lubrication. Do the same for the power-window tracks. You'll be surprised at how quickly and smoothly both windows and locks will function. Also while the door panel is off, cover the door-lock 'latch pieces' with an inch or so of vacuum tubing where they may knock/rattle against the door frame.

I'll chime in... Mine did the same thing. Armed the alarm system then I'd have to check to make sure the doors locked all the way. Hosed it down with WD40 and wiped it up and they work great now. Now I need to free up the power window linkage. I can time the window going up with a sundial!
