mystery problem ???

The car is a 1991 Z28, the problem started when it wouldn't start by turning the key but was solved by running power directly to the starter . After driving for a day using the jumping the starter method the car just died. It could be started, but when i put it into gear and began to move the car dies. it can be revved to redline while in park or neutral, but when in gear it dies within a few feet of movement. i have already replaced the ignition switch and neutral safety switch and i'm stumped now. any input would be helpful .
