Why is it idling so high? i put in a brand new motor and started it for the first time today. i havent adjusted anything yet and cant set timing unless idle is correct. i took a look at the small screw on the drivers side of the TB to adjust the opening and closing of the buttlerflys and it doent help. what cane cause this what do i check. i need to set my timing soon
How does it sound? You may have vacuum leaks and/or the tps out of adjustment. Those are the first two things I would check. When you back out that screw, does the idle change at all? Does the throttle move where it contacts the screw? See if you can back the screw out farther and push the throttle back until it contacts, it may be stuck.

the TPS was checked and is in within the proper readings. I will recheck for vaccum leaks again tomorrow but I am pretty sure i do not have any.

Throttle bodies are notorious for base gaskets sucking in and causing a high idle.
Did you replace the gasket when you installed the motor??
