Heads for a 400 SB

I'm picking up a 400 next week to replace the V6 currently in my car. I understand that replacing the heads on this engine is the first thing I should be doing to help it make HP.

I have access to several blown out, late model caprices (former police cars) most of which have just bottom end damage. How good would these heads do on a 400? I know I'd have to get them drilled for the steam holes.

I can get the heads for almost free so I'd like to use them if they're any good instead of spending a lot of $$$ on aftermarket heads.

Any info you guys can give me is appreciated

I've heard of them being ported on a 350 to give 280HP. Its really a waste of a 400 though. If I had a 400 I'd get the best heads possible. It might be a good stop gap measure before you get new heads
