hp is RS????

ok, ive heard everyone talk about iroc and z28 hp and all, but how much hp does a 305 5.0 v8 blah blah push? stock....i want to know what i need to push to =) i just bought it and i dotn have a job HAH so i need to know what to plan for, thanks

The fact that it's a RS or Z28 or IROC doesn't have TOO much to do with the engine, unfortunately, as the 305 TBI can be had in all three. With that being said...

All of the 305 TBI's (which were the higher-end model of the RS's, with the base rs having a v6) had 170hp.

Open Element and new exhuast will help up that to 180 or 190, some may claim 200. But with some work I am sure you can get it at a decent level.

Thankfully the general never disgraced a Z28 w/ TBI. Base cars, IROCs, GTAs, TAs and Formulas all got TBI. In 88-90 there was no Z28 as a model, it was called the IROC (even if it did use Z28 as it's RPO.) In 91-92 when the Z returned they were all TPI.

i went to napa today to price open element air filer housing and filters, they gave me a figure of 50$, but the way the guy looked the entire time makes me feel as though he didnt know if it was really for my car, (i looked at advanced auto and they could only find the one for the tpi stuff ive seen) anyone know a good place to get that?
