is it my starter????

well when i run it for a little bit and it warms up and then shut it down it is hard to start it turns then gets stuck then slowly turns than gets stuck again and eventually it starts. is it my starter or is it just too hot to start? i do have headders and a 350 crate engine and it gets pretty hot under there.

When you first start it does it do this? If not, I would suspect the starter silinoid is getting real hot. A mini starter, or a remote silinoid would help tremendously.

A remote solinoid is one where you would mount somewhere else cooler, like on the firewall off to the side somewhere.

But also, my starter is brand new and still does this to me. It seems like it doesnt like the timing being advanced too far either.

I think Ill invest in one that costs more than $25 myself.

I had an '81 Chevy truck do that, and it was the battery. After it was hot, it would start 2, maybe 3 times, then nothing til it cooled down. I would try the silenoid first, though, since you have headers and all.
