Storage Lots
Does anybody reading this use a storage locker or whatever you call them to store their car in the winter? I'd like some opions on those things I might get rent one this winter. What is the average price of them per month? What issues are there with these lots?

I have used a self storage for the last few winters. In my area a 10X20 goes for $65 a month. Basically you want to find one in a good area. Mine is only a few miles from my house. A security gate with a fence around the outside of the lot is nice. So only people with a security code can even get close. You do have to get storage insurance through your normal insurance company, because the storage places insurance is only covering their building.

Up here I pay a local guy with a big pole barn a dollar per foot (length of car) per month. A good deal. Like 88 Camaro says you should keep up your comprehensive insurance coverage; check with your agent. Here there is no problem with security; it's a very small, close town. A local guy with a barn or garage space may work for you. Take the battery out and treat the gas with Sta-Bil gas treatment. That's all I do. Once I put mothballs in it to keep mice away, but I wound up taking it on the road in the middle of winter to Florida, and the stench was very bad. So I have not done that since...

I might call around and ask the price around here. It's gotta be a lot cheaper than $65 per month if I go this route. My brother has a big building I might be able to put it in this winter, but I'm not sure if he will have enough room for my bird in there.

I avarage 120$ a month for 3 vehicals in outdoor secure storage. Car covers are a must and I also pay 30$ a month for security insurance on 2. Im not too worried about my 55 buick is not restored yet. Ah to win the powerball and build a garage thats larger than the biggest shop
