Intake porting bits...

Has anybody ever used summit PN SUM-900240 carbide bits. It says they're ideal for iron, but would it be OK on aluminum or is the design different for an alum. bit?
thanks...ed

Not used them, but I'd suggest the cheap Harbor Frieght carbide bit set for Aluminum, don't even try them on cast iron, or you'll have nothing but a mandrel with a nub on it

Ed, I've always used HSS cutters for porting aluminum, from the cylindrical bits to the cone-shaped ones, and the nice rounded cone one in between. Try those and don't run them too fast (> 10-15K RPM) or they will clog up with chips.
