ok here goes 88 formula, LO3

completely no set conditions to cause it does it hot and cold

turn key i get nothing no click no crank notta......all power accesories work just fine,

if i throw jumper cables at it it will fire up no problem........


so far i have

checked all connections both starter and battery,

done it with 2 different batteries so i dont think its just a weak battery

when it does start the starter seems sorta loud also......

so im thinking starter needs replacing, good thing i kept the one from when my 84 was automatic it should work no problem right?

sucks cuz its 90 degrees NO shade in my work space and im guessing that the exhaust has to come off since it is the big huge starter

 

Weak solenoid?

 

well i swapped starters so we shall see what happens, thing is it had been ok for almost a week before today, so all i can do is drive it and carry jumper cables and hope there are nice people around if it continues to give me grief

 

Let me know what happened im having a similar problem.
