Should i adjust my floats
I have been trying to get my new edelbrock 1406 carb tuned right for a while now. I have been messing with the idle mixture screws and finally got them right. Using a vacuum gauge, i back the screw out until i achieved maximum vacuum without going any richer, then turned them back in 1/8 of a turn. Well, by the way the exhaust looks and smells, and from watching my air fuel gauged, it still seems to be running rich. Would the floats have anything to do with this? Or do i need to look into some metering rods?

Checking the float adjustment is the first thing you should do when you take the carb out of the box.
