Code 14 and 41

I have a couple of questions about some trouble codes i pulled from my 84 cc carb, L69. First code i got was 14, I cant find a 84 specific chart, 86-87 said it was "Coolant temperature sensor signal indicates a temperature of over 275° F for 2 seconds." Now i dont know if this is correct for a 84 model, i would like to know if it is or not and how to correct this.

Second i have a code 41, and I couldnt locate any info on this one, also from the 84. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Don't want you ignored, hate that. Per the haynes Manual, 82-92. Code 14 Circuit/System=Coolant Temperature Sensor Circuit, indicates Engine Overheating, poor electrical connection, open or short in circuit, defective coolant temperature sensor, defective ECM. Code 41 Circuit System(carb models) = No Distributor Reference Pulses to ECM with Engine Running, indicates poor electrical connection, open or short in circuit, defective distributor pick up coil, fault in the MAP or differential pressure sensor circuit. Troubleshooting is the process of elimination. Good Luck! PS, Keep those coal trains amoving.

Re: Code 14 and 41

Check your connector to the coolant temp sensor (front of intake on most cars?). A bad connection here will make the car think overheat. Is the car running hot, smell hot, coolant system making funny noises? If not, it's probably just a bad wire/connector/sensor.

Good luck
