who knows what this is? (pic inside)

Im still trying to figure out why my cooing fan won't come on, although im pretty sure its the relay. But when i was trying to find the relay i came across this sensor looking thing on the right side of the radiator. It wasn't and isn't hooked up to anything. What is this thing, and is it important?

Sorry, the pic is big, im still having size issues with the new digital camera.

Thanks,
Eric

Looks like a fan switch to me, and if it's not plugged into anything then I'm guessing that's why the fan won't come on.

Its a low coolant sensor.

I replaced one just like that in a vette the other day.

Same place, same switch.

The fan switch is in the pass. side head.

On my car, that hole is plugged with no sensor. Either way, it's definitely not the cause of your fan problem.

Some cars have them, some dont.

I see them mostly on corvettes.
