Smog pump delete

Ive seen the how to article on re-routing your belt to bypass the smog pump , can I just get the new belt and re-route it and then come back later when I have more time and remove the smog pump , or do I have to do both at the same time .

No, it won't work like that. You can't reroute the belt with the smog pump still there, the pulley will interfere.
