Cam specs what is the difference?

I wanted to ask what the difference in Cam specifications ie Life Dur etc is between a 86 LB9 Cam (TPI) and a 92 LB9 Cam (TPI). I mean what is the differnce between these 2 Cams when they cam eout in stock cars if any??

The reason why I ask is that I have gone to MAP and am running a 92 Z28 TPI CHIP but the engine in the car is a stock 86 that came out in the IROC-Z.

I was thinking if it is worth my while changing the CAM that came out in the 92 Z28. Would I see any increase in performance or are they both the so called "Peanut Cams" and just not worth the swap. I don't really want to mess around with the CHIP at the moment or is there any other CAMS I could put in and get away with the image on the PROM?

So if anyone has the different specs on these 2 Cams it would be great to hear form you. BTW, if you have an idea what might be a problem with running a 92 CAM in a 86 engine can you also state that ie, like running rich etc.

Thanks!

If you look through the Tech Articles on the main page, you'll find the info you seek...I beloeve it's in an article called something like " All about camshafts" or similar.

I think if you were to pull a cam out of a 92, you would find it isnt a peanut cam like everyone says it is. I did it on a 91 that was definitely factory fresh (gasket material and stuff... or lack thereof, just like the factory did, and the owner said so too) and it wasnt a peanut like it was supposed to be either.

Your rich running problem is probably related to a wiring problem I would guess, not the cam.

I also hope your cold start is disconnected.

Yeah my cold start injector is not connected into the ECM and it Can't be either as the MAP ECM did not have a pin out on the ECM for a cold start injector.

Thanks for the Info guys.
