Where can I buy an assembled shortblock?
I'd like to know where is the best place to go to get an assemembled 350 short block.
I'm looking for a stock 350 bottom end, with dished pistons, so I can run a decent set of 58cc World heads I have.
I want to be able to put my own cam in it and whatnot, and as far as I know, Advance Auto only sells a longblock, but I could be wrong...
Advance gets $1100 for the longblock, and they say I cant change the stock cam out of it without voiding the warranty...

I've always gone to local (within an 1hr or so drive) machine shops, look to see what's on the floor already assembled that the original owners either did'nt have the cash to pay, or they're assembled using parts from multiple people that forgot, or coudl'nt pay-so the shops use this sshmorgise board of parts and start building things to get them outta there.
My first 355 ws a $800 short block, 4 bolt main, etc... this current set-up was $1K, usually you can talk them down within reason just to get them outta their hair, and the fact they are local goes A LONG WAYS....whatcha gonna do if something happens, go to all that trouble pulling the motor and spending $150 to ship it back? I'll never order anything like that unless it'd be a factory crate motor, for my purposes, I'll support my local economy and keep my sanity
