Testing a ground?

First of all, Exactly how do i test a ground? Secondly where is the ground for the TPS that does to the ECM and Where is the ECM grounded? I know where the Ground is on the TPS, but where does the other end hook up at? Thanks in advance.

Ideally, you should test ground resistance using a low voltage, high current ohmmeter, like a Simpson 260. (See, there is some usefulness left in those old boxes.)

The sensor grounds should connect to the ECM and at an engine ground point toward the rear of the right head or intake. The ECM harness has a ground there as well. The schematics I have for ground distribution are unclear, but it appears that the system may also rely on the braided ground strap from the engine to the body, also mounte at the rear of the head or intake. Of course, the negative battery cable should be connected solidly at both the engine and body ground node.

Where exactly should this braided ground strap be connected to the engine. Mine was disconnected for a long time since I bought it and I left it off cause no codes were coming up and the engine ran fine. I attached it and now i do have some problems coming up. I don't know if it is just a coinicidece or if it is actually correlated to this particular ground strap. Any ideas?

just curious how how much amperage do those old boxes put out and is there any problem with using just a normal standard cheapy DVM?
