don't know how to make my car fast
I had an 86 Iroc with heads, and cam, and forged internals. It ran really good. But I didn't build it. Well, I sold it, and now i'm back to driving my 84 Berlinetta, it has a fresh 350 in it, but it's carbed and i don't know how to make it fast. As far as I know it's pretty weak, but it's running the stock intake, and carb...but i can't figure out what they did for hte heads, cause wouldn't 305 heads on a 350 shoot the compression up pretty high? Anyway, i've got $1,200 to play with, but the car has a beat to crap 700r4 and 2.73's....so i was gonna have the tranny built and put 3.42's and posi in, but i don't know what to do to the motor. Can anyone give me some advice?
Stall? cam? Can you run centerbolt heads on any car? I know that you have to have a different intake, but does that block matter at all? thanks again

centerbolt heads will work on any block. Do not put 305 heads on a 350, the engine will be sucking for air. a lot of people put 350 heads on their 305s...get some good heads and a cam, like AFR. Make sure to get a new intake, like a performer rpm or better. If I were you I'd get a new carb too, get at least a 750 cfm carb, holley or edelbrock will be your best bet. Headers and a free flowing exhaust would be great too...Good luck!

remove as much weight as you can. Get an aluminum intake at least. Make sure you have at least 12 to 14 degrees initial advance. And about 34 total. Work on exhaust flow. A pretty much stock carb 350 can run low 14s in an fbody.
You really don't need anytype of stall unless you have something more than a stock cam. Work on weight transfer, that will get you traction and good launches.

I would go with full exhaust from headers back. Get the Hooker Cat-back, it's awesome.
