How to fix a lean fuel mixture on mpfi???????

I have a 2.8 with a automatic, the car has no power when accelerating which would account for the lean fuel mixture.Would this also cause my car to rev back and fourth just before my trans shifts into the next gear? Is there any way to fix these problems without having to take it to a mechanic.I've tried three guys in town and they want 1500 and up

Start with the simple stuff...

Figure out what would keep gasoline from getting form the tank to the injectors. Changed the fuel filter lately?

The fuel pressure is the amount of hydraulic force imparted by the fuel pump on the closed system, above standing atmospheric pressure, which is presumed at 14.7 pounds per square inch absolute, or 1 Bar, often expressed in PSI (Pounds per Square Inch), but more correctly expressed in PSIG (Pounds per Square Inch, Gauge) which accounts for the differential of measured pressure which is not absolute, but compared to the presumed standing atmospheric pressure.

That's the fuel pressure.

I checked the fuel pressure at the shrader valve on the fuel rail.It was at 37 PSI when the engine was running and in P.BTW I need to get one of my rockers adjusted cause it nocks really bad, also could the knock sensor be retarding the timming soo much that it would cause a lean mix.

85,

Adjust the rockers to eliminate the possibility of a detonation sensor problem. You may also discover that the correctly adjusted valve allows more flow and more power.

How is the ignition system? Wires, plugs, distributor cap and rotor, a weak coil, and all the typical items can cause a loss of power and economy.

A little history of the maintenance of the car might be useful.

37 PSI? Isn't it supposed to be 47 (or is that TPI)?
