Engine Problem?

Car: 1987 Firebird GTA
Engine: 350 5.7L V8
Engine Problem?
I have a problem that has been happening for the past 5 months or so. When I come to a stop sometimes, my engine will stay revved to about 3000 RPM. This really only happens when I've been driving for 30 minutes or so. I dont hold down the gas or anything, for some reason it just stays revved. Does anybody have anything they could tell me about this?

Engine: 350 but it's torn down right now.
Transmission: 700r4
Axle/Gears: I'm working on it,lol.
You also might want to check the throttle linkage to make sure it isn't binding.
