Need a daily driver, please help

Moderators sorry about the sudden string of non 3rd gen tech, but my car is out of service and I have other questions I need help on.

My 92 1LE is just not a practical daily driver. I get by now by driving my girlfriends Toyota echo around town which gets triple+ gas mileage and is slow as *****. I was thinking about getting an old police package caprice or regal and swapping in a stock tpi l98 or lb9. What would you recommend as a daily driver with a/c and cheap insurance? Does anyone on the board own a caprice or 80s regal that could give me some input as to whether this is a good idea?

She is not the fastest thing in a straight line but she sure will stick in the turns.

Those cars you picked are slow as ***** and drink alot of gas.

I'm kinda partial to the Grand Am I just got. It's rides firm, has a kinda 'firebird' feel to it and gets excellent mpg's (Quad 4 HO). By the way it's also slow as *****, but I bet my *** I could still kill a early-mid eighties A/B/G body with a 305.

Plus it has ABS and 4 doors so the insurance is next to nil.

I had a 98 chevy malibu(same as grand am) but my brother and I managed the blow up the engine and 1 month later tranny in less then 35,000 miles (had synthetic oil to, thank *** for that warrenty). I thought that old cop caprices could be relatively fast, but I guess not. Speed was not my concern so much as a really solid/safe car that would be hard to break. Seems like the two family F-bodys are the only cars that take a serious beating.

Why do people want V8s as daily drivers? The whole idea is to have something more realiable than ur IROC that will drink less gas. A police package caprice will drink lots of gas and wont necessarily beall that much mroe reliable than an IROC... especially if you swap in an L98 TPI. I'm sure I will get slammed for saying that, but if you think about it, its true. V8's have lots of moving parts and just arent as reliable as a Honda Civic, most of the time.

When I think of daily driver, Ithink of my 6cyl 2.8MPFI Celebrity, or a Grand am or something. Thats just how I think of it.
