I just purchased a 1984 Camaro Z28 with a 305 and a 5 speed manual tranny. I was just wondering if the engine is a High Output and how would I find out?
My VIN# is 1G1AP87H7EL230112
Thanks to all in advance.

I think the 8th vin needs to be a G for the l69 ... Kevin

Kevin is correct... you have "H" as the engine digit, that one is the LG4. So at least it disn't come with the L69.
LG4 that year was rated 145 HP, L69 was rated 190 HP. Your car probably has a 3.23 gear where teh HO cars got 3.73s. There are lots of minor differences between the 2 motors; the biggest ones ar ethe exhaust system, the cam, and the compression.

Racer2pro the eight didget is the engine code. Yours is a H so the H is just a 305 CID,V8,BC and is not the H.O. engine the didget for the high output engine would be a G. You are probably looking at 145 hp from it's stock settings.

Don't forget the dual-snorkel intake on the L69...<font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2">Originally posted by RB83L69:
