power locks don't work?

my power door locks and windows aren't working. fuse in the fuse box checks out though. what else could i check? when i push the lock/unlock i can hear a faint clicking but nothing happens. i had them hooked up to an alarm to use the remote key pad which also doesn't work. i unplugged the alarm box just in case but it didn't help the situation

any suggestions?

Is the battery good? Stupid question, I know, but usually it's the simple things...

yes the battery is good. turns out one of the two fuseable links off the alternator popped. it was an odd case in the effect the fuse was good under the dash and some of the other accessories typically tied in worked like the hatch, reguardless it's working now.

thanks.

Any idea how it happened? Reason i ask is the previous owner of my car put on a new alternator and i'm having some starting issues and my locks don't work as well. I doubt the two problems are related but it's a possibility. Both the battery and starter are good.

starting issues?

when you turn the key to run or start does anything happen?

have you checked all of the fuses in the fuse box and the circuit breakers which are 30 amp for the lock/window section?

have you checked the fuseable links near the starter. believe there is 3?

also, what type of alternator and where was it purchased. i've bought alternators before new and they have been bad out of the box. anything is possible.

When i turn the key, sometimes you can just here a click, the sometimes it will try to turn over, but to no avail. I was just at the car a minute ago and now it's just loud ticking. It can start fine what it is jumped and will continue to start on it's own until it has cooled off for a few hours or overnight. I haven't looked at the links on the starter as of yet but will do so.
The alternator is a Duralast Gold DLG-1345-6-11
The fuses on the locks look good but i'll get further into that when i can get the damn thing to start. Everything on the car work's but the locks.

everything on the car meaning only the locks correct? check the tin looking larger size 30 amp fuses in the fuse block which are the breakers for the locks and windows. not sure which but there is only 2. also, do you have an alarm by chance? underneath the center console is the relay for the hatch and windows from the factory, the grounds for the lock switch are also located there,, make sure nothing has moved. check your grounds and fuses before anything else. all of these are very basic i know but the simple things are usually the best to check.

The only accessory on the car that doesn't work is the locks. The car doesn't have an alarm, but it does have a switch in the dash that says clifford, I believe this means it has keyless entry but I don't have the remote for it though. I checked the tin looking fuses and they looked good. I'll be sure to look at the grounds under the console, thanks.

they look good or you measured them with an ohm meter? they aren't like blade fuses, you can't tell by looking.

also, chances of having anything clifford and not having an alarm is doubtful. i'd search a little harder as you could be right but unless the owner pulled it out you should have a box somewhere. not to say it's the root of your problem but it's a start. any accessory non gm should always be checked, especially when it's linked.

good luck with it.

Lol, yeah I don't have an ohm meter at the moment so I just took a look at them So the fuses are still not ruled out.
About the alarm, I have no idea where or what to look for?

look alarms on the internet, start with clifford. type it in and you should get their website. roughly a small little black box. aproximately 4-6 inches long, maybe the same wide an 1-2 inches thick. big harness coming out of it with at least 10-12 very thin wires.

reguardless of your problem you need to get under the dash and know what's there. what should be and shouldn't so that if you do have a problem you can track it down.
