Oil pressure question
The engine in my Formula has about 20,000 miles on it (According to the guy I bought the engine from). I have mechanical gauges, not electric, so I ASSUME the pressure readings are accurate. Anyhow, idling at like 800-900 rpm's I have about 30 pounds of oil pressure, and at higher rpm's it gets up to maybe about 60 or so.....
Is this acceptable for the mileage on the engine? I was under the impression that it would be a little higher....
I'm using 10w30 non-synthetic oil BTW. Would thicker oil bring the pressure up?
Thanks,
-Chris

Well if that was my engine, i would be pretty happy with that pressure.
I would'nt ever put a thicker oil in though, it does'nt do a lot of good.
