Oil Capacity

Just bought an '82 Firebird with the 2.5 L EFI engine. Since I have no owners manual or Chilton's, how much oil do I pour in during an oil and filter change? I'm used to changing oil on Chevy V-8s but am not sure if the capacity is the same (5 qts.).

Should be.

But, what I would suggest is to fill the filter before installing, then put 3 quarts into the crankcase. Check the dipstick, add what's needed to get to full.

They list that kind of data on Autozone's website, under the Vehicle Specification's section.

For your 1982 PONTIAC FIREBIRD:

OIL (CRANKCASE) CAPACITY 4 QUARTS INCLUDING FILTER

You should buy a Chilton's. It would be a very wise investment.

Lack of money at the moment prevents that. Besides, I've always found that Chiltons are rarely worth what they cost.
