Question about alcohol motors

Ok i thought there was a fuel/system board but guess not, something someone asked me and i had no idea about cars running on alchohol, i race nitro r/c cars and i run a methyl alcohol with 20% nitromethane, everytime i am done with it for a more than a few hours you have to do "after run" which is opening up the carb hitting it with a shot of wd40 and puling the glow plug and doing the same, turning it over and repeating it 3 times so everything is coated and there is no chance of internal corrosion since the alcohol attracts moisture,

DO cars running on alcohol require teh same kinda thing or is the alcohol different? Always wondered myself

i ran 100% methanol in B&S kart engines and we never did anything like that. had to run bigger jet, colder plug, more timing, more cam and double up diaphrams in the carb. had to replace diaphrams every few weeks because they weren't made for the fuel we ran. on a car you'd need to run soft parts made for it since methanol attacks neopreme.

Alcohol is a high maintanence fuel. I don't do as much maintanence as others. I use a top lube mixed in with the alcohol to keep things from drying out and to keep the valves lubricated. At the end of the day I spray my carbs down with WD40 but don't drain my fuel system unless the car is going to sit for extended periods of time.

During a race day, all I do is put fuel in the cell.
