fish smell

My car has a weird fishy smell to it when the engine is on. I think it has to do with my AC because it was just charged . Any suggestions or does anyone else have a similiar problem.

Mold. Make certain the case drains for the evaporator are clear. This is common in high humidity conditions.

I use Ozium which you can get from about any auto parts store or some have used Lysol to combat the problem.
With the vents open and fan on LOW, give a couple quick shots in the vent between the hood and windshield on the passenger side, it will smell strong in the car for a minute but it'll help kill bacteria in your ventilation system.

Woman in the car at the same time?

Lysol is just as good as the expensive stuff from the dealer. I hate that smell too.

It's a fungus actually but certain types can be nasty for you health wise. Mostly the stuff that grows in these new air tight houses. Never heard of health problems arising from the stuff that grows in the vents but I suppose certain geographical areas could produce it. Stacky Botris or how ever you spell it is a paticularly bad one.

Another thing that may help is to dry out the system inside the car, a few minutes before stopping switch from A/C to vent and open the windows.
