Air Pump Delete Help
I want to get rid of my air pump. I found the thread about removing the AC and air pump. My belt is a 3 groove belt, will the GM delete pully work for me? It looks to wide. What can I do?
My motor is a TBI that I was told originaly came from a pickup.

you dont need the pulley. I rmeoved my pump and plugged off my exhaust manifold holes with pipe plugs/fittings. The pump came off and I got a shorter belt. Cant remember the size but I believe there is a write up on the main board about it in the tech area.

Did you have any problems with the belt rubbing on the water pump? I Used an old belt to test and it looked real close.
Do you have any pics you could post?

Try these links out. I think they will give you an idea. The serpentine setups use a 6 rib instead of 3.
This tech article shows how to route the belt. You will want to go with the one on the left. Straight from the altenator to the powersteering pump, waterpump, crank, then to A/C

This has a part number for the delete pulley

Belt part #'s and length.

This should give you an idea. Hopefully you have the same serp setup as us since your LO3 came from a truck.

Nothing ever rubbed or anything, worked like a charm. I revved it into the higher RPm's plenty of times and it never popped off or anything.

I saw those threads, but I am still not sure what to do since I don't have A/C
My LO3 is from an 88 pick up truck and has a skinny belt only 3 grooves in the belt.
Is there a 3 groove pully I can put on that bracket?
Was there ever a truck with a factory installed delete pully I could find in a junk yard?
Or is there a way to re-route what I have?
My setup looks just like the one in the pic but my bracketry is steel not aluminum and I have no A/C and a narrow belt.

Do you have a pic of what you have?
The pulleys are fairly cheap to replace. You could get the 6 rib pulleys to use with the A/C delete pulley. I replaced my power steering pulley for $15.
I did find a thread(I can't find it now) where a guy relocated his altenator to the smog pump location. So it went from the altenator, over the idler pulley, down to the power steering I'm guessing. I couldn't see the rest of it. You may try searching for it. That could give you an idea anyhow.

I'm not anywhere near to measure mine but I can tell you it's wider than 1/2 inch. That almost sound like a v-belt.
