How Hot do headers get?

How Hot do headers get?

Anyone have a rough idea of how hot headers get. I just bought to plug wires along with looms and sleeving that protects up to 1400*. The only wires they had were 45* angle boots, and I haven't had a chance to put them on yet. In case they might come in contact with the headers at some point, will this sleeving stand up to the headers?

Headers can get as high as 1500. I always think of it this way... Usually when something says it gets...say 1200 degrees... it'll actually get around 1500 with my luck. IF the sleeves say 1400... they'll protect to 1000. That's my luck however. I've heard of headers glowing red... so I'd imagine they get pretty hard.

Exhaust gas temperature of 1400 degrees means you're running way to lean. 1000-1200 is a good operating temperature.

I can only assume the headers will be the same as the exhaust gas temperature. That's why you get headers coated. They'll retain most of that heat.

Mine dont get too hot, I am running a little rich (not for long) and that might contribute, but they actually lowered engine bay temps over manifolds, imagine that.
