noisy air conditioning compressor

i noticed that my individual belts on my car make alot of noise squeeling and whatnot, but as i was observing my car idle, the freakin ac compressor was making alot of noise. its really annoying, and right above the compressor i noticed alot of what looks like oil on the foam padding on the underside of the hood. it appeared to be coming from the compressor. what is the deal? do i need to replace anything? thanks

Sounds like the compressor is dying, in a working system , there is oil, the oil could be flinging up from the front seal in the compressor.

The noise will come when the system loses the oil and the compressor starts to lock up.

Yep, sounds to me like your compressor's going.Had it happen to both my 92 RS and 91 S10 Blazer this year.Soon after all the oil blows out of it, it will seize and the serpentine belt will start to smoke, unless you turn off the air, or disconnect the ac clutch connector.Time for a new compressor is coming quickly.
When you replace it, be sure to put new seals in the hose connector on the back and replace the dryer/accumulator as well.
I would stay with R12 also, even though it's more expensive than the new stuff (R134) it actually works better, and the F-body system doesn't hold that much anyway.
