Banks Performance Camaro
Ok, So I've been seeing this 3rd gen parked up the street from me for years, and I never thought to ask the owner about it b/c it was so raggety looking. I'm glad I changed my mind.
My motor is getting tired, so I'm looking for a 4 bolt block to base a 383 on. I go up and talk to the guy out front, and ask him what motor the thing had in it.
Turns out that the guy dropped 8 grant at Banks Performance back in the late 80s and had the entire power and drive train redone.
I was very, very skeptical until I opened the hood.
Gotta realize, this thing was covered in rust and moss, and when I popped the hood, I figured that the best I could hope for was an oxidized 350 block.
The car has a custom built and blueprinted 350, built TH200 {edit: TH200-4R } transmission, Lightened driveshaft, and a disc brake posi with 15" IROC wheels.
Bought the car for $500 right there, and friend of mine had it running in two hours. I want to move the motor and posi into my car, what about the transmission? The thing has a Michigan title, and the body is beyond repair.
anyone have any idea of any previous Banks power packages for Camaros? Any idea what power something like this would be making? I get the car in my name on Wednesday and I'm going to take it down and prep it for a reinstall in my 86 Camaro. I'll check casting numbers while im at it.
