no oil pressure
I just bought an 89 formula 350 for $200 and i bought it thinking it just needed the tranny rebuilt.Well after i paid another $200 to get it towed home i cranked it and noticed that when cold the oil pressure is around 30 PSI but after a few minutes it falls to 0.Could there be something wrong with the guage? It does have 148,000 miles so its probably the oil pump.Has anyone else had a false reading from there oil press guage?

Pull the sending unit out and install a manual gauge to see what the real oil pressure is.
Could be something as simple as a sending unit (very common) or it could be as extreme as the oil pump screen clogged or pump bad.
