Scary "knock" from rear axle...
Recently (well, within the past four days) I've noticed that when I hit the gas and accelerate from a slow roll or stand still I hear this knocking noise come from my rear axle. I guess I sorta feel it too? I dunno..it's the noise that bothers me...any ideas?

More likely it's your tranny mount thats broken. I've had this happen on 2 cars and you get a lound bang when you mash the gas. Order an energy suspension tranny mount. They're about $20 from summit.

hey i have a weird developement on this thing, i replace my mount with an energy suspension one, but now instead of from low rpms to idle and at the mashing at the beginning of gears it bumpin, its quieter and happens off and on when i mash the gas when i normally drive, it happens even when i dont mash it now that i remember, it happens randomly, it sounds like its farther back than where it sounded/felt whith the busted mount, anyone know why this is? its damned annoying.

I had a similar prblem with my car. It sounded like it was coming from the rear end. It sounded like the rear was crapping out on me. *** knows, I am familiar with that sound because I have had a few rears go on some of my cars. Well I took it to a tranny friend of mine, and he said I needed to change the rearend fluid. He said that the posi additives in the rear break down, and the clutches bind up. He was pretty sure about this. I was thinking that he was full of crap, and I would need a rear (the sound was pretty bad). But he changed the fluid, and it is perfect now, no clanging. Check it out man. hey if you haven't changed the fluid in a while, it certainly won't hurt anything.
good luck man
