I still can't get it to do anything. I switched my carb with another 650 dp that i have and still nothing. Played with the distributor when i was starting it and nothing. The only thing I know i didn't do on the engine was ground it to the frame, but I don't see how that would keep it from starting.
Im gonna email MSD to see if anything on the distributor could be bad, but the only thing to go bad is the magnetic pickup. I dunno...
Thanks,
Scott

yep, grounds are important on aftermarket igntions. I have 2, one to each head. And a third from the distributor to the frame (and coil)
That didn't work. 2 guage ground, bout 10" long from the firewall to the back intake bolt, still didn't even try to start up. I never did that on my other car with the same setup, I only had charging problems with the battery
Hey there is two reasons an engine will not start. GAS and ELECTRICAL. Have you verified that there is gas getting into the engine. To check look down the carb and operate the gas pedal. You should see gas being sprayed into the primary side of the carb. If there is gas then you have to check for spark. There is a tester that you can put on the end of the spark wire that clips to ground on the engine. Crank the engine and see if you can see a spark jumb the gab in the tester. I had a light blue spark an one car, that did not produce enough spark to fire the gas.

Is the engine cranking or is there nothing. I would double check the grounds as this has happened to me several times where the ground wire to the battery wasn't completely tight. If the engine cranks it takes 3 things for it to run. Air/Fuel Mixture, Compression, and spark. To check for spark put a timing light on each individual plug wire to see if they are in fact working. Maybe spray some starter fluid or put a little bit of gas in the carburetor to see if any thing happens. And maybe do a compression check if necessary.
