In need of major help, car is not starting

Ok well I've posted tid bits of whats goin on in various threads. So I'm gonna make a comprehensive post.

About 2 months ago, I swapped in a 350 into my once V6 Camaro. I am just now really getting everything together to try and get it to start.

My problem at the moment is I can't even get it to bump the starter. I have it wired according to diagram... Purple wire to small post on solenoid, that goes to clutch start switch (which is disable now, i'll get to that). I have what looks to be fusible links with 2 wires, that joins as one red wire. That goes to the big post with the positive from the battery.

I have the yellow wire from the clutch start system cut, and spliced with the purple wire (fromsolenoid) This bypasses the neutral safety/clutch switch. The yellow coems from ignition switch.. I replaced the ignition switch too. The 2 large connectors are in it.

Everything checks out for the starting system. The starter is GOOD. The battery has a full charge. All fuses are in working order. The fusible links are known to be good... they aren't loose or noodly when you tug on them. Howeever... one had exposed wire that was covered with electrical tape. It was melted on a bit... i took it off and put some fresh tape on.

I don't understand why this car wouldnt start. As some background too... I'd like to mention that I had troubles starting the V6 when it ran. When I first had it running in march, it would start on command. Towards the end of its death 1 month later, i was having a real hard time getting it to start. Almost the same thing. Turn key, NOTHING happens. I believe though, at least back then i'd hear a "click" . I hear nothing now when I try.

Does anyone have any ideas??

Replace both battery cables.
Use a romote starter switch to bypass the ignition switch.
Does it start? Is it consistent?

The battery cables... never thought of that. I will give that a crack.

How would I route a push button starter? Take the yellow and purple together at a switch?

Remote starter switch is a pistol grip with a trigger to activate the switch. The cable ends have 2 spring clips, and it's long enough to reach inside the car. If you don't have one, get one, I use it to make quick power, or ground connections. I've used to test fuel pressure without having to turn the key, or start the engine, and to drain the gas tank.
Connect one clip to the s-terminal (purple), the other to the terminal (red) that's connected to the battery, and pull the trigger.

How would I go about connecting one end of the switch to the terminal on the battery? Would I take the battery cable off the solenoid, then connect it to wire going to the switch?

DOn't disconnect anything. The remote starter switch connects at the starter not at the battery, it will just bypass the ignition switch, but the key has to be in the run postion for the engine to start, if not the engine will just crank which want you want if you're just testing the starter, and solenoid circuit.

Alright. Well I feel stupid, I had the purple wire on the wrong terminal. But my problem isnt solved yet...

If the purple(neutral safety switch) wire is connected to the small terminal, and you try to start, it'll make the starter gear plunge, but not spin. As defined by a loud clack noise.

If we connect the purple wire to the copper post that branches off and connects to the actual starter motor, then it causes the starter to spin, but not plunge.

At the moment, can't seem to find a viable method of making it plunge AND spin, without having to use a separate powercord and "hotwire" the car to crank.

Are you sure the fusible links aren't blown?

I dunno... guess its still possible. Where do I even get fusible links from? I checked up oreillys and advance online, but none show any that are similar to mine. They just look like black cylinder lookin things.

When you go to the autoparts store look in the wiring section by the fusible links. There should be a bunch of different styles.
