Help TPI runing funny.
This problem just started last night. It seems like the car never warmes up becasue it drives at higher RPMs all the time and the throttle responce is verry poor. Every time I tap the gas it hesitates and then goes. At a stop light it almost died when I started to take off. please advise if you have any information. thanks

Well, you were pretty vague with your description, but here's my stab at things you might want to check.
1. Check the Catalytic converter to make sure it isn't glowing red.
2. Check the P.C.V. valve to make sure it's working properly.
3. Check your plug wires to make sure they're not burnt.
4. Check your timing.
5. Replace the fuel filter.
There's more to check, but this is where you should start. Keep in mind that bad fuel could also be a factor. You also might want to lube your throttle linkage so it doesn't stick anymore.

My car used to idle at 1500 rpm and tourned out to be a faulty distributor. Fixed that, then it would chug/hesitate of the line.. turned out to be a bad maf burnoff

Check for a suddenly cracked vac line. High idle - poor throttle response... sounds like air getting through at idle, and then making the mixture very lean when accelerating.
If you don't find anything there, check your TPS for smooth voltage output. Clean your IAC.

just went out side and sprayed the throttle linkage with white lithium greas. Turned the car on and it is idling at 1500 rpm. Sprayed some carb cleaner on the vac lines but nothing changed. I guess I will get out the haynes manual and see how to check the IAC. thanks for the replys.

Carb cleaner on the vac lines??? I've never really heard of that technique, but I guess it could work. I'd suggest a propane can on a low "Trickle" setting.

I was just messing with the car again and the throttle seemes to be sticking around the TPS sensor. (the passinger side of the TB)
The unit on there is a 52mm TB installed by the previous owner.
When I started the car and taped the gas, the car was sitting in park at 2000 RPM. Then I went and pushed the metal tab that moves the TPS, and moved it towards the rear of the car and it would bring the idle back down to 1000 RPM. I did this a few times with the car on. Then I turned it off and could see and feel that the tab was not closing the TB blades all the way.
Does anyone know what I can do to fix this? do I need to take the TB apart and lube it or something? thanks
Evan

Axle/Gears: 3.27, I think
The idle screw, on the driver's side of TB, allows the butterflies to close so much. Get, I think, a 15 torx and turn the screw counterclock wise and see if that helps at all.

the problem is not with the idle screw. It is with the little arm that actuates the TPS on the passinger side of the TB. when you hit the gas it will stick open a little and not alow the TB blades to close.

I hjad that problem with a Holley 52mm throttle body. TO solve it I just removed the TPS and filed down the little metal tab/arm a little bit so it wouldn't drag.

Problem Fixed. I took the TB off and throughly cleaned it and cleaned the IAC. But I what I think fixed it was replacing the striped torx head screw that bolts the throttle linkage to the TB.
The Torx head screw was striped and loose and I think that was alowing the TB not to close all the way.
Thanks again for all the help.
