compression ratio?

what is the compression ratio for a lg4 (i think) 305 cid? the engine came out of a 1985 caprice. i just want to know for common knowledge. also, im getting ready to do some work to this engine, its not a 350 but im on a budget. i just want to be able to smoke the tires and cruise around town. maybe i'd take it to the drag's once a summer.

what do you motorheads think of this combo?

-performer rpm intake
-cam Adv. duration: 244 intake 264 exhaust
Duration at .050: 194 intake 214 exhaust
-4.10 gears
-msd ignition/distributor
-stock 350 heads

do you guys think i'd be satisfied or do you see anything that concerns you about this setup? i havent bought the stuff yet so feel free to post whatever
Keep in mind: i dont have the money to go buy a used 350 and take a chance on it being a worthless piece of *&%@. if i had the money, id just go buy a crate motor.

It's around 8.5:0. Stock 350 heads will make it a dog. The dished pistons plus 64cc chambers will yield an even lower compression that will make a very low HP engine. Your combo is a little mismatched. The RPM intake is designed for high RPM horsepower which the cam your picked is too wimpy to help with. Gears are a good choice if you want LOTS of low end for street driving.

If I were you I'd get at least some stock 305 heads, a normal performer intake and a healthier cam. Call Edelbrock and see what they would reccommend. You could also try to find a cheap 350, throw some 400 dollar vortec heads on it, get a carb vortec intake and a decent cam and have over 300 horsepower for about the same price!
