a little help with missfire

I have a 2000 Firebird 5-speed with a v-6. I just started having problems with a missfire. I thaught it might have been bad gas, but i ran all of that tank out, got fresh gas with fuel treatment, and I'm still having the problem. It's not noticable until around 2500 rpms, but after that all power goes to hell. in fourth and fifth gear it bucks like an insane bull. no smoke or funny smells, plugs and wires were both changed around 10,000 miles ago. Any thing come to mind? Please let me know what you do.

Thanks,
Steve

Not 3-rd gen, so we will see how long this lasts.

Have you started with the basics? Plugs, wires, etc. Check your ignition module. Any of those will produce those effects.

start with the basics plugs/wires are pretty cheap and can make or break an engine.

had problems with my hodna one time with at higher rpms it would misfire. tach would go crazy and start boucning from 2500rpms up to 7000rpms problem was the coil.
my mazda one time had issues with slight missfire at all rpms. changed the plugs and oh my *** no more missfire other then a small one every now and then but the difference is drivability and power was incredible. and if you looked at the plugs guess what? they looked good. but they sure didn't act good.
same thing actually happened to my honda also.had fairly new plugs in it. (less then 1000miles) took them out took them to a wire brush put them back in and it helped with the way it ran a little bit. figured one day to just change them. wow what a difference there also..

again check the simple things. even if plugs look good doesn't mean they are and they are cheap enough you should be able to afford replacing them. so even if it doesn't fix the problem at least you know for sure they aren't the problem.

Finally got it to the mechanic and found the problem to be the Ignition Module. After it was changed there was still a slight missfire, and I changed the plug wires, it runs like a new car. Almost makes me wanna go through the trouble of doin a tuneup on the lt1.

Thanks everybody for your advise.
