Rust! Help me with this please.
Hello,
I just took my 85 z28 305 engine completely apart down to the block. I have it in a garage that is open. I put all the other parts, crank, pistons, cam etc in a big tub and covered them in oil. But for some odd reason I didn't cover the block on the stand and I cleaned it the night before. Well, sure enouph, it rained. I just honed the cylinders and there is some surface rust inside them. HERE IS MY MAIN QUESTION: Inside the Lifter holes, there is fairly a lot of surface rust. I don't want to put new lifters in with that rust. It should be smooth. How do I get that surface rust out? I currently (about 10 minutes ago) covered the block in oil but there is still that rust there. I feel bad because the block was in good shape until I took apart. I WANT THAT RUST GONE!!!

i always hone the lifter bores with a brake hone, it'll clean your surface rust off.
